Interesting docs on docs.bentley.com/ I wonder if VEM is powerful enough to implement this. Question: What is the VCM? Is its a database linked to and for managing some i-models? Or is it a container file like a ISM file? I think that it would be good to be able to generate a dgn-based file like dgn (with Design History on) or an ISM that encapsulates say 10 No. model shares (ten week period?) Design History / ISM transaction already has a UI / workflow based on highlighting new, deleted and modified elements... (and the parameters / attributes attached to them?). As the teams share their weekly dgn's, they get converted to i-models for review using Navigator. From these loose i-models, VEM could automatically generate a separate i-model (or VCM) that is specifically for tracking changes. This would allow the design / construction team to navigate the model and 'animate' the changes. This functionality would be both useful for the designers and constructors. The constructors on site would be more interested in survey / site progress information. I think that Point Tools can already diff two PC's and separate the differences, clashes. I suppose timeline-enabled PC automatically classify / segment the PC based on the changes, and extent of the new scans. ContextCapture also smart enough to generate camera objects in the 3d model based on photos taken. It should be easy to 'animate' this information in the 3d model. Most construction sites have a time lapse webcam.to track progress. Scrub through the timeline and have the 'as planned' geometry overlay the webcam, site photo, PC scans on screen. You could also sync in info like delivery times for concrete, rebar, piping etc.. As the trucks are let onto site, they are logged into the system. Crane lifts can be logged. As well as the number of site operatives on site. When a section of scaffolding is erected, it would be easy to have it described and logged. When it is struck, it would be equally easy to track. ConstructSIM should not just be about taking a complete BIM model and slicing it up according to a design or construction sequence. It should also be more 'additive' and more 'catholic' about how it can integrate or splice information in a time series or even streaming format into the VCM. The time line should be open ended, and the salient information referenced / loaded/unloaded in on demand.
