SYNCHRO Field is the solution to managing projects from the construction job site. By capturing accurate, real-time data with highly efficient geo-located maps and weather services, the entire team will gain insight and communicate effectively to drive field productivity. The performance will mostly be affected when downloading, processing, and reviewing complex data, so using powerful hardware on large projects is recommended. 3D model interactions require all hardware areas - CPU, GPU, and RAM. CPU is impacting model loading speed. GPU is required to render the model smoothly. A large amount of RAM is required to load large models, not enough memory may mean the model not loading at all. Device storage requirement is directly proportional to project data size - downloaded models, schedules, documents, and PDF plan sets stored for fast offline access will need an equal amount of storage space. Most other SYNCHRO Field features (forms, inspections, documents, maps, etc.) have lower hardware requirements, so most modern phones or tablets released after 2018 with the latest OS versions would handle them. If you are planning to stock up on specific hardware for field work - be sure to test SYNCHRO Field app with similarly complex projects, especially if you plan to use more demanding features. Recommended hardware specifications - iOS Use iPad Pro and iPhone Pro devices for large projects (released since 2020 or newer) or regular iPad/iPhone devices (released since 2018) for smaller projects. The app is distributed via the Apple App Store for compatible devices. SYNCHRO Field supports iOS/iPadOS 13.0+ , using the latest is recommended . Recommended hardware specifications - Android Use flagship models (released since 2020 or newer) for large projects or good-performance devices (released since 2018) for smaller projects. Note that most ruggedized devices have lower performance, so ensure that those would fit project needs. 64-bit CPUs are required (most modern devices). Make sure that OS also runs in 64-bit mode, as some older devices use 64-bit capable CPU but run 32-bit Android. You can check that with apps like 64Bit Checker . The app is distributed via Google Play Store for compatible devices (other stores are not supported). SYNCHRO Field supports Android 9.0, but using the latest is recommended. Network The network is a significant factor in the transmission of large data. Greater than 10 Mbps upload & download is recommended for downloading large models and documents to SYNCHRO Field. Data center location To reduce latency, make sure to choose the data center location to be in the same region as users accessing it. This can only be done when creating SYNCHRO project. FAQ What are the recommended devices to use with SYNCHRO Field? Please refer to the section Supported hardware and systems for details. How much free space is needed on the device? Yes, SYNCHRO Field downloads and saves data locally not limited to models, schedule data, all forms but not attachments, when applicable. Again the amount of data is dependent on project and model size. SYNCHRO Field also supports working offline without an internet connection. It is recommended to have at least 4GB of free space, and the more the better, if using SYNCHRO Field on multiple models projects is intended. Does SYNCHRO Field Android app can use an external memory card for storage? No. App uses internal device storage and cannot be installed or store files in external storage. Why is the downloaded iModel a few times larger than the original .sp file? Due to format differences, iModel produced from the .sp file is almost always 2-5 times larger compared original .sp which is highly compressed. How to work “offline”? SYNCHRO Field supports working offline without an internet connection, and it is recommended to download models and documents that the user intends to work with onto the device before going offline. This is to support access to your project data on job sites without stable internet. However, attachments to Forms are not automatically downloaded with the Forms, therefore to access the attachments to Forms during the offline mode, the user must open Forms from My Tasks and download the desired attachments manually before going offline.
