What in the Best Practice for removing a user from a ConstructSim WPS project (seeing as you can’t actually remove a user from a project if they have created anything…)?

The best practice for removing a user from WPS project is to change password and disabling IMS for the given user.

Forum Post: Problem with file destination when doing publish in Autocad with Project Wise
Hi, On 3 differents computers I have seen this problem. In Autocad (2017 and 2019), when we publish file into PDF, the file goes in C:\users\....\AppData\Local\Temp\..... no matter wich destination I chose. ProjectWise was load in Autocad but not connected. I haven't seen this problem on computer without Project Wise. Any idea ? Thank you

Before uninstalling, I have test connect and not connect to Project Wise, result was the same, PDF has been created in temp directory. Any help would be appreciate. Thank you !

Forum Post: MEP Sequencing Part Numbering?
Caught this interesting presentation by Jon Mirstchin talking about using Excel in conjunction with a IFC reader to author COBie spreadsheets. Towards the end, he starts to talk about taking the IFC system information from a duct run and doing some calculation to generate a running 'installation sequence' number that would be tagged onto the duct elements. I can see this being a very big productivity booster on site... especially when the associated durations for each task can be calculated on the fly and different alternatives tested. ConstructSim is already geared to a 'Workface planning' workflow where the user volume selects a bunch of MEP elements to produce a BOM for ordering. The natural progression would be to use PlantWise or BRCM's autorouter tools to drill down to the next level and determine the optimum installation sequence of each MEP element. PlantWise is especially interesting as it is based on a rules-based engine that already has all that vicinity logic figured out. As usual, Bentley has all the tools with part of the solution available... In any case, one of the nice things that PlantWise must have are some tools that can quickly calculate distances / relationships between elements. It would be great if this can be called as Named Expressions in Mstn's Tables. Simplified workflow: 1. Extract IFC or vertical's duct run part number. 2. Sort for type of fittings: duct segments, junctions, damper, terminals, insulation, hangers etc. 3. Assign installation sequence numbers based on some simplified rules using PlantWise's rules-based tools. 4. Save sequence numbers to Mstn's Tables. 5. Use Mstn Item Types highlighting etc tools to allow user to 'walk through' the proposed sequencing for editing. Extra credit workflow: 1. Extract whole MEP installation (ducts, pipes, cable trays etc) part numbers 2. Sort for type of fittings 3. Sort for spatial relationships to structure (what is nearest to structural soffit etc) using PlantWise tools. 4. Sort for spatial relationships between MEP runs (installation access requirements-heavy equipment need more access, water pipes above electrical OK?, what needs more frequent access? etc etc) 5. Test some alternative arrangements using KBE rules (PlantWise) or generative algorithms (GC-Darwin) incorporating duration (MineCycle-style?) 6. Assign installation sequence numbers based on some simplified rules. 7. Save best three sequences as options as an Gant chart for animation using Mstn, ConstructSim or even new boy Synchro. 8. After the user is finished 'walking through' the sequencing and editing / fine tuning, generate and write the sequencing numbers to the individual elements. This would be a great 'Companion' tool for all those Bentley apps that deal with MEP design: OpenBuildings Designer, OpenPlant Modeler, PlantWise, AutoPlant/Pipe, BRCM, Promise, Substation, OpenUtilities and even the civils verticals like SUDA/SUE and WaterCAD etc? I don't think that there is anything on the market that does this... and it would be a clearly demonstrable productivity booster worth paying for. It might even provide an entry point for Bentley products to be used to 'fix' models produced by others.

Forum Post: 4D Modeling + ContextCapture = Digital Twin?
Interesting draft manifesto on how 4d modeling services can help. I wonder if we have been going about this all wrong. 4d modeling services should be an outgrowth of the contract administration role that all projects require, not just to help the contractor plan his work. Starting in the 90's a lot of building sites in London started installing webcams to monitor site progress. Contractors were not happy about being spy'd on like this because it make any Extension of Time or delay claim more difficult. Even if there was a legitimate hold up, if the client could show sufficient inactivity on site using his webcam he could mitigate the claim by arguing that there was an opportunity for the contractor to recover and therefore estopped from claiming the full amount. All building contracts require the contract administrator to record progress on site with the specific aim of arbitrating these kind of claims which are inevitable on large jobs. He/she usually has to do this by logging site progress (usually pics taken on site visits). Bad administrators just write huffy letters just reminding the contractor of his obgligations when replying to claims :-) So, convincing the employer to pay for a progress recording service should be a no-brainer. Bentley seems to be have all the tools for this. ContextCapture on Azure to record and triangulate / orient the photos (don't actually have to generate the reality mesh). imodelHub to store the results in a timeline. Sychro to 4D model stuff if needed. ProjectWise, eB etc on Azure to keep track of what was issued when. This would also be a good entry point for Bentley's products and services: Client subscribes to Bentley Digital Twin cloud service to track construction progress on site. Bentley cable guy rolls up and installs a starter webcam (usually mounted on top of a neighbouring building). Eventually, cams will need to be installed within the building. There might even be some droning required as well i suppose. Or GoPro-type sweeps through the site. The 'Big Brother', 'Reality TV' info capture would provide the basis for the 'upstream' workflow outlined in the manifesto. A Synchro-centred workflow would provide the mainstay for the 'downstream' forward planning and briefing workflows. Together, they should provide a bi-directional feedback mechanism that should help management anticipate problems, calibrate their assumptions, identify and reward best practice and even help reduce friction between subcontractors because who did what when would be fully accessible at any time. This would allow Bentley to sell the service to the contractor. I can see clients writing it into their contracts with the contractor, requiring that the contractor maintains the incumbent or equivalent alternate service.

Forum Post: RE: Why Construction CSIM WPS- Getlatest VCM just blinking and not going further to download it on local document folder.
This issue was resolved as a result of a Service Request with the Technical Support Group. The issue in this case was that a second database software had been installed on the machine and it was conflicting with the SQLServer instance being used by ConstructSim. You may also see this issue if there is another instance of CSimworksharingApp.exe running already on the machine.
